Reading about earthquakes

If you've been feeling like you just don't have enough time in the day lately, it's probably because the 2011 Tohoku quake sped the rotation of the earth, reducing day length by 1.8 microseconds.

SCIENCE!

Fascinating! ( http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/angular_momentum.jpg )

I recall reading somewhere that the earth was still "ringing" three months after the Boxing Day quake in 2004.

BTW have you come across http://supernovacondensate.net/ ? He comes up with some interesting stuff on a regular basis.... There's an LJ feed for him, too.

And of course http://xkcd.com/1123/ ...
