Money money money...

Washington B&O tax is a butt.

(and my father says 'What a republican little democrat you are!').

No, no, it's not that I think taxes are a butt. It's that WA State taxes business on gross, not net. This makes it harder to start many small businesses and is easier on businesses with a big profit margin (usually bigger businesses). I think they ought to tax at a much higher rate - but tax on net.

Also, the city of Olympia charges $80 to license a business. $80! BAH!

The Toshiba that I'm eyeing is only at it's current price until Nov. 25, and only shipped free if ordered by Nov 13. I'm eyeing their financing...the only way I could buy the thing is on credit. My credit history is good, and I'm 99.9% sure I'd have it paid off by the end of their 12 month same-as-cash deal...but credit cards make me twitchy, anyway. 'sides, it's a decision awfully fast.

On t'other hand, decision fast means laptop in my hot little hands fast...glee!

Yeah, but if they tax on net, the big businesses lobby for loopholes and employ really crafty accoutants and end up paying basically nothing and the small business owner gets screwed even worse cuz they're shouldering even more of the load.
