Back at work...

..and the first job waiting for me is a pile of Wizard of Earthsea posters for me to sign.

Fame is surreal.

Even teeny tiny fake fame.

Now I'm REALLY back at work.

They threw me a welcome back web meeting! Guys, you shouldn't have!

No, really.

You shouldn't have.

I want that chocolate I gave you back.

(disclaimer: I love my coworkers and I know they didn't want to be in the beating either)

You've already voted, haven't you? Good.

Thurston is a mail-in county, so most people I know here have already voted. My ballot didn't arrive 'till after I was gone, so I'm only doing it tonight, and I'm getting just the teeniest bit frustrated.

See, it just so happens that I think local elections are important. Statistically, one's vote matters more in them, as well. Voting the federal offices was a breeze; come on, there can't be that many true undecideds out there. Unfortunately, trying to research any state or county offices is rendered almost impossible by Washington's slavering Gubernatorial race, which manages to be as nasty as the presidential race without being half as exciting. I don't WANT more info on it, but it's all I can find.

Please, can't someone talk about the twelve district court judge nominies? This is ridiculous*.

*It's also understandable, totally fair, and explained clearly in the county voters' pamphlet (position became vacant AFTER the primary, so everyone gets a shot).
