Nov 4: Watched the news with a bunch of folk music friends, screamed a bit, then played music until, well, now.
McCain's concession speech was gracious and classy, very clearly showing the person he can be. His crowd's responses? Not so much. I dislike McCain's policies, but I never found him terrifying - not anywhere near the Bush league, just someone I disagreed with. Palin, on the other hand, represented some truly awful things and was happy about it. That extra tone of nastiness seems to have come with her, and I can wish it won't linger (as per McCain's stated wishes), but I doubt it.
Still, it was a fantastic night, and a great group of people to share it with, and we sang lots of old songs and really meant them. Now, finally released of suspense? Damnit, I need bed.
