What's in a name?

I want to try Glitch, but it requires me to name myself before I design what I look like, and that’s very backwards to me. Don’t want to be stuck with a name that doesn’t fit forever

I know, I know, my problems are HUUUUUGE.

[In more important news, I turned in my remodel plans for review yesterday, so hopefully I’ll hear back from the city next week and can move ahead with my remodeling project. I’m also working on the FINAL chapter for A Star to Steer Her By (there may also be an epilogue, but if so it’ll be short). It’s about half done, and the end feels amazingly close (okay, I already wrote the end. Two weeks ago. Because it’s the fun bit). I learned that I'm legally allowed to keep miniature goats in my back yard. I’m also cleaning my garage so I can start immediately if the remodel permit goes through.

So, life goes on.]

ANYWAY ABOUT GLITCH…

Have considered: Irascible Kumquat, Creme Tangerine, Mighty Pickle. Because my brain got stuck on food stuffs and refuses to be budged.

Glitch? Wassat?

I've played for all of ten minutes, so take this with a grain of salt: It's a side-scrolling browser based MMO built around silliness and co-operation. No combat; it's intended to be relaxing. The operative adjective is definitely 'cute.' There are skill trees, but they apply to constructive skills.

I wanted to dabble in it because a bunch of friends I see rarely in meatspace have been playing it, I'm interested in game variety (even if it doesn't grab me in the end) and because E says that when I play ME3 MP right before bed I charge all night in my sleep. :P

LOL. Yeah, it does get one a bit keyed up sometimes. ;)

That is such a weird design choice. Most MMOs have you do the name last, or at the same time as character creation. I'm like that too; I ended up deleting a character a recreating because the voice actor they used in game just didn't fit the character I'd created.

I like Mighty Pickle :D Also, you could just put down a placeholder name, make your character, then delete, choose a name and recreate that character all over again. Tedious, but that way you'd get what you want.

It turns out that you can change the character design at will; that may be why they do the name first. I ended up naming her after sea slugs. :P

Mostly I'm amused by my own character OCD-ness -- here's a game I KNOW is just for silly cuteness, where the characters are cartoony, that I probably won't get very invested in, and I still take three hours to find the perfect name.

One of my RL friends is playing and addicted to Glitch, so it was strange to see you talking about it as well. I am RESISTING looking at it, because I so don't need to get re-addicted to web social games. SWTOR and ME3 MP is enough, tyvm. :)

But yay about forward progress on the re-model plans! And being almost done with ASTSHB! And the news you can keep miniature goats in your yarden made me cackle when I read your tweets about it. :D

My housemate heaved the WORST sigh when I told him about the goats. I've had to reassure him with the fact that A) I know I'm too busy (AT THE MOMENT) and B) just the idea of the possibility of the potential for goats some time in the future is enough to keep me amused and gleeful for a good long while.

I played far too much Glitch this weekend. On the upside, it felt like an actual weekend! On the downside, it means I only wrote about 300 words and was in totally the wrong head-space for Stirring Conclusions To Mighty Space Epics. I don't need another addiction, and the entire thing is totally silly... yet there I still was, hours later. *facepalm*
