This may sound crazy, but the orthopedist I saw for my shoulder was one of the best experiences I ever had with a doctor.
I don't know why one would go to a podiatrist instead of an orthopedist for an injury like that, but if you can get to an ortho....do it. Especially since it's impacting your sports (your riding totally qualifies).
