Mend-acious
August 19th, 2012 05:24 pmI mended things! Two things, to be specific (I did the third, then ripped out what I'd done and called it a day). I still have a bunch more to do, but I have successfully re-re-re-re-re-re-learned the basics of how a sewing machine works. Kind of.
I'm wearing mended jeans and a mended cami, because A) I'm proud that I made stitches! and B) my other stuff was still salty from kayaking.
I've remembered, or perhaps re-re-re-remembered, that one of the reasons why I find sewing machines daunting is that my mother finds them a bit daunting, and she's the one teaching me. I picked up the swearing and the I-don't-know-maybe-this-will-work-agggh-no-oops from her.
I don't think she's taught me on the same sewing machine more than two or three times, either -- she seems to have gone through quite a parade of hand-me-downs. The current model is pretty old, BUT it has exciting attachments! Mom has no idea what they do, but she's very excited about them. It went something like...
"This is a ruffler! I think. I'm not sure. It might make ruffles! I want to learn it. And this! This is a THING! It's big! And it has SETTINGS! I don't know what it is, but it's soooo cool! With settings! And look, parts of it are interchangeable! I think it eats things!"
I took pictures and noted the patent number. I might try to figure out what it is.
EDIT:
virusq figured it! It's a Greist buttonholer.
