shadesofmauve: (can we fix it?)
My weekend was a bizarre combination of super-productive and super-fun (Pinniped recorded a demo in 4 and a half intense hours Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] emony42 turned 30 and we ate delicious delicious foods for it) and totally unmotivated and angsty (because the letter from the city really took the wind from my sails and I didn't want to think about anything remotely tied to the house/remodel, which turns out to be everything).

Monday was just as odd.

For one thing, 'Department Field Trip to the Hands-On Childrens' Museum' is a pretty wacky way to start the week. I'm still not entirely sure what work benefit we gained from it, but they're our community partner (joint advertising, loaner-membership agreements with the library, etc) and they offered us a tour of the brand new facility, and, basically, who really wants to be at work on a Monday? So off we went, five members of communications piling into the company van in the middle of pouring rain.

(We unanimously voted to start heading south on I-5 and just keep driving until we found sunshine, but our boss had an attack of ethics and didn't follow through. Since he was driving, we deemed mutiny too risky).

Anyway. Tour. Children's museum. Boss, Edith and I went down the twisty slide. Jeff still refused to steal the company van and continue south, on the grounds that it would take 20 hours to find sunshine, even after we offered to spell him at the wheel. Can't win 'em all.

By three in the afternoon I was seriously dragging. By four I was close to nodding off at my desk. When I got home at 6, carsick from the bus ride, I wanted nothing more than to lie on my bed (which I did, with Calliope laying on me). I figured I'd skip dinner and go to bed at 8 or 9.

So it figures that about 9 o'clock my brain suddenly WOKE WIDE UP and I wrote over 1,000 words, boom boom boom, until 10:45. Brain shuts back down, I get ready to go to bed, take evening meds... and swallowing the meds immediately gives me heartburn, so instead of going to bed I played minecraft for another 45 minutes, feeling like a zombie but knowing it wouldn't get any better if I was horizontal.

My sleep schedule is just beyond screwed up at this point.
