I spent much of the weekend catching up with [livejournal.com profile] westrider, which wasn't near enough time but was pretty fun. Monday poker kicked ass. Other than that, I've been in the painting studio or otherwise occupied at the ol' art building, and here are a few of the highlights of that (still unfinished) stint:

The Viola, which was damaged sometime Friday or Thursday, is FIXABLE. I'll have to put in extra work, and it won't make it to the hang on Sunday on account of the painting being delayed while I figure out how to fix it, but everyone I've talked to says I shouldn't actually have many problems with it.

All of the frame/supports that mount the Quartet are built. I'll be working on sanding/finishing them tonight, as I'm a bit too tired for actual painting. Who knows, I might get sucked into the art dept and end up painting anyway. I finished them Frida, so for the first time I've been able to see how 2-D creations look in their slightly 3D display, albeit on the floor instead of the wall - let me tell you, I am pleased. not only do they look good, but they look the way I meant them to look. Any artist can tell you that that is MAJOR.

Sharron looked at the Quartet in it's layout on the floor, and, get this, admitted that A.) Even if she said it was impossible, she was wrong and I'm succeeding, B.) she likes it, and C.) I don't need to worry about getting every piece into the Nightlight show on time - if my Quartet is a Trio this time, no one will mind.

Sharron also looked at the revamped (again) Lummi Site - I'd link to it, but Titan was quite desperatly down when I went in to upload tuesday, so it's not there. It looks like Titan might be back up again...that'd be nice. Anyway, Sharron proclaimed the website done but for a few pricing details. Who's figuring out the pricing details? Moi. Somehow, I don't think this is my job, but if it gets the thing done I'm game. Anyhoo, it's looking a lot better, esp. the products page.

Ed says the show next quarter (494 and other seniors, I think) is at the Blue Horse and opens April 19th. That's WAY early...it's also RIGHT when I was planning on skipping the state. On the other hand, Ed also told me I HAD to go to New York, as part of my education. He gave me instructions for guilt tripping any profs who gave me problems, and as he walked by the 2nd violin in quartet said in an off-hand way "There's some nice painting on that violin there." HOT damn.

Our 494 class show, "15", opens on Monday the 7th at Nightlight Lounge. The reception is from 6 - 9 pm, and there will be free snacks, pricey drinks, and no cover, so I really hope some of my over-age friends make it down. I've been workin' really hard towards this, guys.

Also, the B Gallery is having the 'World Tour - culture show' reception on Friday, 5:30 - 7:30, and I'll be performing for at least part of that time. There are plenty of equally informal opportunities to hear me play, but if the fancy strikes you, swing by.

My mum might come visit me for a bit saturday! That'd be nice. Now, I've finishd my pear cider, so back to the art building!
