I'm excited, exuberant, refreshed, after my three nights up at fiddle camp - Centrum's Festival of American Fiddle Tunes. I slept on Susan's floor and saw Olympians and Bellinghamsters and people from in between. I saw the really cute my-age fiddler who I saw at folklife and thought I'd lost forever, and discovered he's a pain in the butt. I played music, listened to music, and after that and Tall Ships (See backdated entry for July 5th) I think I'm playing better than I have been in months. This week I start shopping for a new bow, as well.

On sunday I drove home from Fiddle Tunes (which is in Port Townsend), just awake enough not to end up in Hood Canal. I've a new Klezmer CD in my stereo, three new sketchbook pages in my bag, and a new crush on an unattainable 32 year old musician from French Canadia.

Can I have a Quebecois accordionist for my birthday?

I'd tell more Fiddle Tunes stories, but it always bores non-fiddle-tunes people to death. A whole week (for me three days) of "you had to be there" experiences.
