It's time to hibernate, left-coast educated secular-sophisticate style.*
I have a large and growing pile of to-be-read books and a wide variety of projects in the wings, and I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to them. It helps that this weekend I thoroughly cleaned my house, so I have an excellent place to hunker down in. Now if I can keep it clean through three weekends away from home (one in B'ham, two in San Fran), I can look forward to at least two sedentary months.
Reading
The Game of Thrones series, borrowed from
madalchemist and saved for rain
Jewels: A Secret History by Fictoria Finlay, not-for-sale proof version
A book about a Dr. and his international non-profit, whose title escapes me.
A collection of the letters of T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia), and a biography or two (Lawrence was one of the inspirations for my troubled-general Elydryl)
The Kite Runner
Personally...
work on my quilt (It's the eternal quilt! perpetually unfinished!)
family tree research, and an organised version of same for my Grandma
Completing my AUAP scrapbook, before I forget who everyone in the photos is (if I haven't already)
At least two LJ icons that've been in my head awhile
Plot outlines and test sketches for an Epic graphic novel. I don't want to push it and I don't expect it to get anywhere, but I want to play around with art style and start hashing out the story details.
And professionally...
A Sigil for a friend of a friend ($$)
Potentional Sigil #2 if first goes well
A new logo and webpage (currently in the works)
Amy Zilk, Piano Technician website ($$$)
A website for Kristin Myers & Our Heroes (I'm one of our heroes, or shall be, if we can manage to get together to rehearse some more)
Restarting Butch & Spike
"Peace Creation" badge
Fiddlers Don't Fret, Mary's Ass, or other bumpersticker type design on cafepress items
Have you ever wanted to tell a few people something that was fairly minor, and ended up playing it up so much that the actual information seemed ridiculous? I was going to tell Dad and Doozer about the version 3 release of the genealogy software I use, but somehow it came out sounding like a grand announcement. So I told 'em I was pregnant instead.
*Educated Secular-Sophisticate is a classification I heard and liked on NPR a few years back. Unfortunatley it was followed by "There aren't enough of you to sway an election."
