So much for habits...
August 16th, 2012 01:59 pmI'm fallen off my evening-exercise wagon. I did it solidly for about a month, which theoretically is enough time to set a habit, but apparently my brain is resistant to good habits (the bad ones are easy. Funny, that).
Part of it is that it conflicts with my ongoing attempt to bring my sleep schedule back to something fitting an 8-5 workweek, instead of over-sleeping and staying late at work every damn day.
Anyhow. It's been a month or more since I was good about exercise, and the bad knee is twinging in places it shouldn't again. Not as bad as it was at the beginning of the year, thank goodness, and it hasn't interfered with biking yet, but the warning sloppiness is there*... so I suspect I'm doomed to backslide if I don't keep doing my incredibly boring lifts every three days.
Every once in awhile I day-dream that taking horse-riding lessons would hit the lateral muscles I need to work. The daydream comes up against the triple threat of time, money, and riding being absolutely brutal on my ankle**, though.
So. Yeah. This LJ post is basically all to say:
29. And still no pony.
*'sloppy' knee is a technical term. Go orthopedics.
** Riding at the trot is basically a prolonged exercise in maintaining focus and muscle control despite pain. And I love it anyway. Thankfully, I can mostly walk it off once I'm off the horseafter the embarrassing bit where everything collapses and I almost land on my ass.
